My nephew... Akeem

The month of May is always crazy when it comes to schedules and events. I've gotten behind on my process, but summer is here! Must devote more time and focus to expedite my work.

I saw my nephew for the first time on my birthday weekend in May! I wanted to hold him, but I had a lingering sore throat from a cold and didn't want to take that chance. 😞 Next time, though...and hopefully, I won't have a bug.

My sister and brother-in-love came in to attend her friend's graduation. She also held a sip-and-see so family could meet the new addition: Akeem! (Yes, a Coming to America reference was made.)

What ya doin, auntie?

Kendrick's sister couldn't get enough. Even when she left to see their sister and came back, she wanted to see him just one more time and she hated to leave.

I think Akeem hammed it up while in mommy's lap. 😏 My mom already met Akeem when she went over to be with Ashley and Kendrick for the birth. I think this was G.G.'s first time meeting him... I should have made the connection; the three J's with LJ!

My cousin's daughter acted like she didn't know what to do around a baby, but she'll pay attention to a camera. 😐

The biggest fan award might have to go to my brother. As soon as he got to hold Akeem, he fell in love. He is Akeem's most staunch protector if anyone even thinks of bringing harm... The last picture is one of my favorites.

Just being able to see Akeem that weekend was a lovely birthday present. What should he call me? I think I'll go with Uncle D (only family and a couple friends know why).

Spring Break '18

I missed the vernal equinox on March 20 (Tuesday) due to a car accident, but spring break still offered some nice shots. The first three came from Bay Memorial Park (off Garden Club Drive in PC). I then hopped over to Eden Gardens State Park in Santa Rosa.

Of course, I had to end my trip at Russell-Fields (City) Pier and get shots of those enjoying the sun during spring break. Ran into a few students, so hopefully they see the post.

Happy spring, everybody!

The Red-Vested PDK & Lady K

I'm glad I brought my camera with me to church that Sunday (1/28). It was, more or less, an impromptu session but it turned out great.

I'm also fortunate to have a pastor and his wife who know what poses they want! It gives me inspiration of what I'll look for with other portraits. (Note: that second middle one was for testing, but I still liked it.)

Choosing a Path

I purchased a Nikon 3400 kit in August. I was able to get an outdoor session with a former coworker and her son in September. I have taken photos at a marina, nature park, and residential community. I've taken photos at a few events, whether requested or of my volition...

The point is I'm still figuring out my photography niche. I am leaning toward people/portrait development. I also have aspirations for nature/landscape, street, and events photography. But that's where you, the public, come in!

One never stops learning and developing his or her art. I am in the genesis stages of it, so any sessions I have (where I'm asking for subjects) are complimentary. You can like my Facebook page and contact me there if you would like to be my muse.
